This WebQuest deals with the far reaching impacts of Blues across the world and genres. You may be surprised to find out that the grandfather of heavy metal were heavily, no pun intended, influenced by the Blues. The song The Warning follows the same Blues chord progression you have come used to hearing with the rock riffing that originated in Born Under A Bad Sign. The bass player from Black Sabbath is an English gentleman named Geezer Butler who has had an undeniable impact on generations of heavy metal bass player. The Israeli born guitar player Oz Noy has made a career of mixing multiple genres of music with the Blues. The Oz Noy composition that hopes over several Blues forms and includes a touch of heavy metal is titled Schizophrenic. Another artist that blends multiple genres of music, including the Blues, is Lily Allen. In the song title Knock ‘Em Out Lily Allen raps, and sings with her thick Cockney accent over a hip-hop beat that includes elements of electronic music, ska, reggae, all done to a blues progression.
